Private universities versus public universities (private side)The private universities are more efficient than public by three main reasons which are: the use of study time, the availability of international works and the accreditation of teachers.
The private universities’ career could take less than three years, while in a public four years to obtain a degree. The student, who prefers a private university means enter in the professional world in half the time besides thanks to field projects, better prepared to face real situations. Alban Sandí Bonilla, executive director of the Union of Rectors of Private Universities (together), estimated that many college students prefer private over public.
He stated that private schools run better the time of her students because the schedule classes per quarter and no courses of six months, this combined with the existence of field projects which prepares and introduces students to the professional world.
By the way Olman Segura, president of UNA and president of the National Council of Rectors (CONARE), say that the quality of some private universities are "questionable" and students should check better where to study, however; education is always subjective and this situation can happen with some public universities, in addition, currently many private universities have gained ground in academic quality.
The second reason are Discounts, agreements with universities in other countries, job and scholarship that are used by private universities to attract students and this can be more effective that offer new students opportunities for growth only inside national market. Without mention the job opportunities that universities guarantee the student to get job during and after finishing the race.
Many public universities seek to overcome the student only in the national market leaving away international opportunities and without deny the good preparation for some students coming from these institutions; not everyone finished their career well prepared to act in others countries which in all the cases means lost experience, very valuable and functional for national economy.
According to the International University of the Americas 96.8 percent of its graduates get a work because job opportunities range. Also highlight the international conventions as a "plus" for those who pursue their careers.
The private universities credited their professor to be sure that they possess the necessary skills to teach in their respective areas.
Alban Sandí Bonilla, executive director of the Union of Rectors of Private Universities said that they will build a center of quality management. The intention is that teachers have courses, seminars and workshops on the proper way to teach; in addition there are current requirements like:
• The total academic staff of each university , not more than 20% may have only bachelor's degree.
• At least 80% must have at least a degree
• In addition, at least 20% of teachers must have a university experience with at least five years in teaching, research or social action.
• Another requirement is that the experience of at least 10% of teachers in private universities should be more than 10 years.
Sometimes public universities seeking qualified personnel to teach but they leave out the experience, a requirement that private universities have always in mind.
In conclusion Private universities usually prepare better students for the workplace. First of all, they used better the time of their students thanks of schedule classes via quarter and no courses of six months, and second, offering agreements with universities in other countries, jobs and scholarship giving more opportunities to their graduates to get jobs within or outside the country. Finally, the professional preparation of teachers in private institution creates a confident ambient of learning for all students.
